Home About AMCI Trades Trades

Like most mechanical companies, Action Mechanical is a combination on several trades to offer a complete Mechanical Contactor.  All these individual trades are interlinked with each other via a common goal and skill set.  However, each has specialty skills that make them unique.

Sheet Metal

AMCI started business as a ductwork fabrication and installation company.  Nearly all HVAC systems contain some ductwork requirement.  For this reason, ductwork fabrication and installation is fundamental, core component.  AMCI operates a well equipped, 3000 SQFT, air conditioned fabrication shop.  AMCI’s shop supports the field installation crews with their wide and varied sheet metal needs.  Our field crews frequently install galvanized ductwork of various pressure classes, welded grease duct, stainless steel and aluminum.

AMCI’s founder and president, Benny Weaver, rose thru the trade as a pipe fitter.  It is only natural that his company offer pipe fabrication and installation.  Many HVAC systems require piping to the proper operation.  AMCI’s crews are skilled installers of hydronic, steam and gas piping.  We install Boilers, Chillers, Pumps and Cooling Towers.

Wikipedia defines Plumbing (from the Latin plumbum for lead as pipes were once made from lead) as the skilled trade of working with pipes, tubing and plumbing fixtures for drinking water systems and the drainage of waste. A plumber is someone who installs or repairs piping systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment such as water heaters. The plumbing industry is a basic and substantial part of every developed economy due to the need for clean water, and proper collection and transport of wastes.

One of the more interesting plumbing projects was the new Mecklenburg Medical Examiner’s Office.  AMCI was sure to double and triple check the plumbing systems prior to completion.  No one wanted a warranty call after the autopsy tables have been used.

HVAC Service

Service is the key to any good business.  It is especially true as a mechanical contactor.  The simple fact is that machinery fails.  Otherwise, we’d all be driving Model T Fords.  Our service department is skilled system diagnosis, start-up, commissioning and preventative maintenance.

Engineering is a key component to any successful construction project.  Whether your project is design/build or traditional plan/spec/bid, AMCI supports your project with in-house engineering capability.  The support is not limited to the project front end.  Engineering support helps resolve field issues, start-up support and commissioning.  The combination of engineering and HVAC Service gives AMCI the ability diagnose building issues from the system level down to the individual equipment function.  AMCI’s Service Department measures system performance.  Engineering uses the measurements to design value based remedial action.
